My art shows the joy of the beauty of the world around us! Growing up in the Southern part of Germany, I always loved to paint and draw. I discovered acrylic paints during my teenage years and most of my allowance went towards top quality, high end paints and art supplies. Over the years, art was put on the back burner due to a busy life and my career in chemistry (with a degree in paints and coatings!), then with the wine industry and now in software for food safety and regulatory. After my mother was diagnosed with dementia in 2003, creating colorful paintings and drawings was a constructive outlet for that devastating diagnosis and I picked up the paint brush again, now adding watercolor and ink pens to the mix!

Being self-taught allows me to learn, discover and practice my individual style and technique, inspired by the beauty of nature. Besides the phenomenal landscapes of the American Southwest, the fascinating places in the South, and in Maryland (the Beautiful - my place of residence), I also like to look for the less visible things that cross my path in my garden and in science. These inspirations can also be found throughout my colorful abstracts.

I firmly believe in using only the best quality artist's paints and materials. My studio contains Schmincke Primacryl made in Germany and Golden Artist Acrylics made in the US, Schmincke Horadam Watercolors, Faber Castell Albrecht Duerer Watercolor Pencils, Faber-Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils, Molotov Ink and Acrylic Pens and Staedtler Pigment Liners, as well as Sakura Pigma Micron Ink Pens made in Japan. This guarantees light fastness and durability of my work. I've stored an acrylic test painting in our garden shed with freezing and boiling temperatures for the past ten years, and it looks like new. I have also painted on particle boards and raised bed frames in the garden, and everything looks great after being outside year round for several years.

Thank you for joining me in my journey of discovering the beauty and colors around us :-)
