Flying Jewels in Maryland

Hummingbirds are native to the Americas and the smallest of birds. Their rapid wing-flopping of 12-80 beats per second, depending on size, make them sound like a helicopter buzzing in your ear if they come close enough. Ruby-throated hummingbirds make and appearance in our garden in Maryland starting in May.

Ink pen, watercolor and colored pencil on 300 g/m2 Winsor&Newton hot-pressed 100% cotton paper.
