All of us need some sunlight, color and happiness during this endless cold and dark season. I am extremely pleased  that this painting will bring many hours of joy and warmth to the new owner and her family.

The artwork "Black Ankle Sunset Field Blend", acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides, was designed based on the various amazing sunsets in the beautiful rolling hill area of Black Ankle in Frederick County, Maryland. It is a compilation of ten sunsets that occurred over the past two years and therefore was built with ten layers of paint.

The burst of hot yellow, orange, red, magenta and purple tones are perfectly balanced by refreshing ultramarine and prussian blue notes, with a finish of cool greens and purples on the lower third of the canvas. Closer observation reveals a layered texture of brush and paint knife strokes, resembling the many cloud formations that can be observed in these fabulous sunsets. The overall warm impression will cut the heating bill in your house in half, lift your mood during the dark winter months, and make you happier on cloudy days. In the lower right hand corner, a smiley was painted first, before anything else. (You can tell I am used to write wine- and beer tasting notes :-) )
