The Common Denominator of All My Jobs - BLACK 3.0 Paint

NMR analysis of wine illustration, painted on a BLACK 3.0 background
My latest discovery is the blackest black acrylic paint named BLACK 3.0 that I had to try out as soon as I could get my hands and brushes on it! It absorbs up to 99% visible light and essentially makes 3-dimensional objects disappear. I tested it first on a garden rock and I thought I was staring into the abyss or a black hole while looking at it ;-)
Amazing that this magic paint is a common denominator between all my (seemingly different, but very connected) jobs!
- BLACK 3.0 is made with highly efficient matting agents that diffuse and scatter incoming light, so the item looks like its coated in very fine velvet and becomes nearly invisible. For 14 years, I worked at the leading matting agent manufacturer in technical service and marketing.
- I worked in an analytical lab for an internship where I used different methods for the analysis of environmental contaminants. Another internship took place at an industrial paint company (they didn't make BLACK III though!).
- I worked in the wine industry in wholesale.
- I currently work for a company that provides tools and databases for food, beverage and chemical safety in sales and marketing. So, bringing this all together:
Every week I write a summary of an article for my current work about food and beverage fraud. Next week's article deals with analytical methods to determine whether a wine is authentic or fraudulent, and our company has a database that lists all fraudulent events and analytical methods in food and beverages. Now how cool is it to use BLACK 3.0 as the first layer background on paper, and paint a wine glass and NMR spectrum curve on it with colored pencil, and use this as the article illustration. Work can be lots of fun and very creative!
(And no, you cannot paint your car with that color to avoid to be seen by speeding cameras. The paint is not suitable for outdoor use).
